BIOGRAPHY
Andrew Hauptman is an Architect with over 15 years experience in new construction, adaptive reuse and historic preservation. He has led projects ranging in scope and size from custom casework solutions to 275,000 SF mixed use residential and retail re-developments.
"Regardless of the scale, every project starts by listening to the client."
Since every project is unique, communication is key. He stresses a strong emphasis on communication during all stages and all aspects of design and construction, from programming through commissioning, to ensure design integrity and integration in all disciplines; minimizing interferences and change orders and increasing the simplicity and beauty of the space through understanding and integration of its many functions.
Mr. Hauptman is a LEED accredited professional (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) by the US Green Building Council of which he and O|X Studio are members. As a green architect, he strongly advocates the recycling and reuse of existing materials and building elements. In addition, he has enjoyed working on numerous award winning historic preservation projects (the most efficient form of recycling/reuse in Architecture.)
Through his leadership and experience in adaptive reuse and historic preservation, Mr. Hauptman has become recognized for his knowledge of and experience with building forensics and building codes for existing structures; an invaluable skill set for all construction projects. He has lead code review efforts on projects up to 2.2 million SF (Pfizer, Ann Arbor campus) and has provided code review consultation to other design firms.
Mr. Hauptman has developed award winning projects and has lectured at the AIA Michigan Design Summer Conference.
