A Midwestern-based restaurant, Old Carolina BBQ combines the traditions of award-winning Carolina-style barbecue with an understanding of its local community. The Ann Arbor location is the franchise chain’s ninth restaurant and the first foray out of Ohio. With a desire to elevate the restaurant and serve as the “Cadillac” of the OCB brand, the owner veered away from the use of traditional materials and designs to create a more authentic country feel, including a shed-wood entrance, cordwood accent walls and spalted maple counter tops made from local, urban forested wood.
